Context | Historical centre of Mexico City

Proposal | National Museum of Architecture

CONCEPT

The human being is in a continuous conquest of spaces. When they are habited, they acquire a different reality and meaning. Architecture and cities are in constant transformation, creating meaningful links between the inhabitants. This project is a witness that emerges to gather the architectural achievements of Mexican culture.

It does not seek to compete with the magnificence that surrounds it, but rather to be the space to understand and appreciate the evolution of the environment. Certainly, it is located in an area where it is found eminent heritage built in the last four centuries. It is an open, transparent building, becoming an observer of everyday life.

PROGRAMME

It has an open-air exhibition hall, temporary pavilions and a projection room in the patio; an auditorium and archive library in the basement. The history of prominent Mexican architects and architecture exhibition is divided in different halls and floors, and finally a terrace on the highest floor from where the historical centre can be seen. The facade is permeable, designed to see from each point of the building to the outside.
